Senior Electrical Engineer - Pipeline Operations | Direct Hire

Preferred locations: Superior, WI or Duluth, MN

Travel: Approximately 10-15%, primarily within assigned region

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Operations Engineering team supporting critical liquids pipeline assets across the United States.

This is a senior-level individual contributor role for an electrical engineer with strong experience in power systems, medium-voltage equipment, substations, protection/relaying, and electrical troubleshooting. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on operations, maintenance, field‑service, utility, generation, or industrial experience—not solely EPC/consulting design experience.

What You’ll Do

• Provide 24/7/365 technical support for electrical issues impacting pipeline operations


• Support electrical operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability


• Provide technical oversight for electrical project installations


• Support medium-voltage power systems and company‑owned substations


• Develop and support electrical specifications, standards, and engineering practices


• Provide expertise in power system modeling, protective relaying, power protection, and substation design


• Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and develop practical technical solutions


• Serve as a subject matter expert and provide technical guidance to field technicians and specialists

What We’re Looking For

• Strong background in electrical power systems


• Experience with medium-voltage systems and substations


• Experience with power system modeling and protection/relaying


• Strong electrical operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, or field-service experience


• Experience working through complex or ambiguous technical problems


• Ability to provide technical guidance to field personnel and stakeholders


• Pipeline experience preferred, but candidates from utilities, power generation, or similar industrial environments will be considered


• PE license preferred, but not required

Most systems supported are in the 5kV-66kV range, with some higher utility-supplied voltages.

This role is particularly well suited for engineers who have moved beyond purely design-focused work and have experience supporting operational electrical systems in the field.

Candidates with strong power systems expertise but limited pipeline experience may be considered. EPC/consulting-only backgrounds may be less aligned with the operational and troubleshooting focus of this position.
