Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4.
• Experience leading multi-entity public SOX environments.
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.

Responsibilities

• Lead global accounting and shape the controllership roadmap.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for accurate reporting.
• Prepare financial statements including equity rollforward and cash flow statements.
• Lead accounting operations across GL, AP, payroll, and equity administration.
• Manage intercompany and international accounting with third-party teams.
• Serve as technical accounting expert on US GAAP/IFRS.
• Enhance internal controls with SOX readiness and process documentation.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Director, Assistant Controller to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space.

This leader will partner closely with the Controller to guide global accounting strategy and strengthen the controllership function during a period of continued growth. The role will own core close, reporting, and technical accounting activities while helping scale processes, controls, and systems across a complex, multi-entity environment. It is a highly visible position that will work across finance, operations, external auditors, and international partners to support accurate reporting and disciplined execution.

Location: Oakland, CA - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $214,800 – $295,350 annually

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Controller to lead global accounting and shape the controllership roadmap
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Prepare financial statements, including equity rollforward and cash flow statements
• Lead accounting operations across general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and equity administration
• Manage intercompany and international accounting with third-party accounting teams
• Serve as a technical accounting expert on US GAAP/IFRS, including complex transaction reviews
• Enhance the internal control environment, focusing on SOX readiness and effective process documentation

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 public accounting and leadership in multi-entity public SOX environments
• Hands-on systems orientation with experience in ERP improvements, specifically NetSuite or similar
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, foreign currency accounting, internal controls, and reporting requirements
• Proven track record in leading teams through scaling and organizational change
• Experience building accounting operations in fast-paced SaaS or tech environments
• Ability to influence cross-functional outcomes and partner across the organization
• Strong executive presence and communication skills with senior leaders and auditors
