Job summary

Johnson Controls International plc in Totowa, NJ, seeks inspectors for routine inspections, testing, service and preventative maintenance of electrical, sprinkler or life-safety products. Candidates will document deficiencies, complete service acknowledgments, and follow a structured inspection schedule while performing physical labor and occasional ladder work.

Flexibility for nights and weekends, ability to read blueprints, and commitment to safety are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of documented experience in sprinkler systems.
• Able to obtain and retain licenses required by codes.
• Experience with wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pumps, and foam systems.
• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multimeter usage.
• Capable of lifting 50-70 lbs and performing physical labor.
• Able to work in ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment up to 40 ft.
• Flexible hours including on-call, nights, and weekends.
• Demonstrate customer service and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Inspectors perform routine inspections, testing, service and preventive maintenance on life safety product lines and competitors’ products.
• Accurately discern and document deficiencies found during an inspection.
• Complete service acknowledgements/inspections with proper coding using devices or hardcopy.
• Maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
• Carry out minor repairs and programming changes during inspections.
• Complete assigned inspections on time.
• Assist foreman in installing sprinkler systems (wet/dry/pre-action/deluge).
• Work in unusual positions, climb ladders, scaffolding, and use high lift equipment.
