Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a field inspector to perform routine inspections, testing and preventive maintenance on life safety sprinkler systems and related products. You will document deficiencies, follow strict schedules and assist with system installations, while handling equipment weighing up to 70 lbs and performing physical labor as needed.

Ideal candidates have experience with wet/dry/pre-action/deluge systems, read blueprints, and can obtain necessary licenses.

Qualifications

• Experience in sprinkler systems.
• Experience with wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, fire pumps, and foam systems.
• Able to obtain and retain required licenses.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs, schematics, and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Capable of performing physical labor including carrying/moving equipment up to 50–70 lbs.
• Able to work in ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, etc.
• Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing, servicing and preventative maintenance of life safety product lines.
• Accurately discern and document deficiencies found during an inspection.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding using devices like laptops or tablets.
• Follow and maintain a structured inspection schedule.
• Make minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected.
• Complete assigned inspections on time.
• Carry/move equipment up to 70lbs and perform physical labor.
• Assist foreman in installing wet, dry, pre-action and deluge sprinkler systems.
• Work in difficult positions such as ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment.
