Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Cleveland, OH is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare Self-Perform Operations (SPO) concrete estimates from drawings and specs and communicate bids and scopes of work.

The role requires at least 3 years of concrete estimating, a related degree, and the ability to read complex contract documents. You will lead bid development, manage vendor relations, and coordinate with Preconstruction and operations teams on schedules and risk.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience performing detailed estimates for concrete scopes.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field or equivalent.
• Experience with performing detailed estimates for concrete structures.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with estimating software (e.g., InEight).
• Limited travel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed SPO concrete estimates including quantity take-offs and studies for items in assigned scope.
• Generate labor productivity rates using historical data and project constraints; maintain vendor relationships for pricing.
• Prepare and assemble bids/proposals for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts.
• Identify design issues and risks; propose solutions with Preconstruction collaboration.
• Analyze SPO concrete project schedules for sequencing risk and prepare labor-loaded schedules.
• Collaborate with SPO Manager to include markups, labor rates, and other information in estimates.
• Lead document management for SPO concrete projects and distribute drawings/specifications.
• Attend constructability reviews and communicate with Trades, project team and designers.
• Develop SPO concrete value analysis studies for cost-efficient alternatives.
• Gain understanding of trade package scope including documents, site logistics, schedule, means, and methods.
• Prepare scope requisitions and coordinate with team to remove gaps/overlaps.
• Prepare comparison analyses to previous estimates for assigned scope.
• For subcontracted SPO concrete, evaluate Trade proposals and participate in Bid Review.
• Manage Post Bid action items and finalize sub-tier scopes; support Procurement for bid awards.
• Prepare and manage project kickoff and handoff to operations teams.
• May supervise Estimating staff, participate in recruiting, onboarding, and performance appraisals.
• Other duties as assigned.
