Job summary

Turner Construction Company, a leading construction firm in the Cleveland area, is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare detailed SPO concrete estimates from drawings and specs. You will generate labor productivity rates, maintain vendor pricing, and assemble bids for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in concrete estimating, a related bachelor's degree or equivalent, and proficiency with estimating tools such as InEight.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience performing detailed estimates for concrete scopes of work.
• Bachelor's Degree from accredited program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field or equivalent experience
• Experience with performing detailed estimates for concrete structures
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule
• Knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of documents
• Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop understanding of requirements
• Proficient skills in project management, prioritizing competing demands and meeting deadlines
• Familiar with construction operating procedures and methods of other departments (e.g., Procurement, Operations)
• Professional verbal and written communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software (e.g., InEight)
• Limited travel

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed Self-Perform Operations (SPO) concrete estimates for project based on construction drawings and specifications; and communicate bids and scopes of work.
• Prepare detailed SPO concrete estimate including quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate input, and studies for items within assigned scope.
• Generate labor productivity rates in coordination with historical data and project constraints; develop and maintain vendor relationships for pricing.
• Prepare and assemble bids and proposals for Lump Sum, GMP, Cost Plus contracts.
• Identify and communicate design issues and project risks, proposing solutions with Preconstruction team.
• Analyze SPO concrete project schedules for sequencing risk and prepare labor loaded schedules.
• Collaborate with SPO Manager to include markups, labor rates, and necessary information in estimates.
• Lead document management for SPO concrete projects, including drawing receipt, file structure, and distribution.
• Attend constructability review meetings; document issues with Trades and support communication with project team and designers.
• Develop SPO concrete value analysis studies including cost-efficient alternatives.
• Understand factors for Trade package scope: contracts, site logistics, schedule, coordination, means, and methods.
• Prepare scope requisitions for assigned Trades and coordinate to eliminate gaps/ overlaps.
• Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimates for assigned scope.
• For subcontracted SPO concrete work, evaluate Trade proposals and document in Bid Recording Sheet; participate in Post Bid Review.
• Manage Post Bid action items and finalize sub tier scopes; advise Procurement on bid awards.
• Prepare and manage project kick-off meetings and handoffs to project operations teams.
• May supervise Estimating team members, participate in recruiting, onboarding, and performance appraisals.
• Other duties as assigned.
