VNA HOSPICE is seeking an experienced Spiritual Bereavement Coordinator to oversee bereavement and spiritual care for patients, families, staff, and volunteers. The role emphasizes providing ethical, theological, spiritual, and pastoral support, and coordinating with local clergy and hospital pastoral care staff.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant graduate degree in Thanatology, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Theology, Divinity, Philosophy, or related field, with at least two years in

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in spiritual counseling and grief/bereavement coordination.
• Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required.
• Ordained or credentialed; knowledge of comparative religion.

Responsabilités

• Assess and provide spiritual and bereavement care to patients and families; document care plans.
• Coordinate spiritual care with home/hospital teams and local clergy.
• Interview, screen, train, and supervise volunteers for spiritual care and bereavement programs.
• Ensure policies include spiritual/bereavement discussions; develop new policies as needed.
• Provide workshops on bereavement and spirituality for volunteers at least twice a year.
• Maintain caregiver contact for at least one year post-death with documented notes.
• Plan and oversee Grief Recovery Support Groups for adults.
• Promote hospice growth by building relationships with clergy and nursing facilities; organize community events.
