Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to manage the physician’s surgery practice daily, coordinating with the clinical team and multiple departments to ensure patients are approved and scheduled for surgery. Travel to locations in the area is required.

This role involves leading the day-to-day surgical schedule, submitting orders for authorization, informing patients of pre‑op requirements, handling payments, and maintaining Athena documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; NRM certification within 6 months.
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience with supervisory responsibility.
• Clinical knowledge and familiarity with Athena EMR.
• Understanding of health insurance requirements for reimbursement.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities of the surgery practice with the clinical team.
• Schedule surgeries and inform patients of pre-surgical requirements.
• Submit and process surgical orders for authorization.
• Enter charges and documents in Athena; monitor holds.
• Communicate with departments and outside parties to obtain approvals.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and escalate issues as needed.
