Job summary

YES Prep in Houston, TX seeks a Special Education Teaching Assistant to support Special and General Education teachers across instructional settings. The role includes one-to-one student support, behavior management, data maintenance, and adapting lessons to meet individual needs.

The position is a 10-month, non-exempt, hourly role with growth opportunities in a mission-driven school network known for college-forward pathways.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 30 semester hours college or post-secondary education credit.
• Current Educational Aide certification, OR willingness to acquire the Educational Aide Certification from the TEA.
• Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic, and behavioral skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Assist with behavior management techniques by modeling and reinforcing desired behaviors.
• Maintain data as identified by teachers, students' IEP goals, and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support lesson plans by reinforcing learning concepts.
• Assist students in performing self-help and academic skills.
• Provide one-to-one full time support for a student with significant needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and work assignments.
• Implement accommodations/modifications as directed by teachers.
