Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, Texas is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant to support students under the supervision of the Special Education Manager. This 10-month role provides one-to-one and small-group assistance, helping students access instruction and participate fully in class activities.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience supporting students with significant needs.
• Ability to follow IEP goals and behavior plans.
• Willingness to assist with personal care as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Demonstrate and reinforce positive behaviors to support behavior management.
• Maintain data as identified by teachers, IEP goals, and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs and learning objectives.
• Support teachers with lesson plans by practicing and reinforcing concepts.
• Assist students with self-help and academic skills and provide one-to-one support for a student with significant needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and work assignments.
• Implement accommodations and/or modifications as directed by teachers.
• Adapt classroom activities and materials to align with objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions and supervise movements inside and outside the classroom.
• Provide personal care services for students as needed.
