Job summary

The Home for Little Wanderers is seeking a Licensed SPED Teacher (History/Humanities) for its Walpole, MA Chapter 766 Special Education School. The role involves implementing individualized education programs, behavioral management, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to support students.

The position requires MA educator licensure, a history/humanities background, and a strong commitment to student advocacy, family involvement, and safe classroom practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and knowledge in history/humanities required
• Massachusetts Educator Licensure required
• Master's Degree in Education or related field preferred
• Special Education license desired
• Previous experience in education or with program population highly desirable
• Computer literate including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer with the ability to learn new software applications

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing of individualized educational programs for assigned students including curriculum and specific lesson plans consistent with broad educational guidelines of the agency and facility as well as Teacher plans
• Research and collect educational resource materials and provide individualized academic instruction to students of wide-ranging academic performance
• Implement behavioral management program within the classroom and participate in crisis intervention and related procedures
• Participate as a member of student/client multi-disciplinary teams and communicate progress to guide treatment and educational goals
• Maintain a safe, orderly and neat classroom environment
• Provide monitoring and coverage as needed in the program and communicate with families to involve them in the education program
