Job summary

Graybar is seeking a Trainee to rotate through assigned specialty areas, gaining exposure to multiple functions and business units. You will complete tasks, receive targeted training, and contribute to special projects while meeting deadlines.

This entry-level role emphasizes learning fundamentals, improving processes, and developing leadership and communication skills to prepare for future functional or managerial roles within Graybar.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 4 year degree may be preferred depending on assigned specialty area.
  • Knowledge of the wholesale distribution industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement techniques and practices.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization and in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with external customers, suppliers, and vendors if required in assigned specialty area.
  • Analytical, conceptual, and problem solving skills.
  • Planning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and supervise others.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, business oriented, flexible, and accountable.
  • Ability to relocate, depending on assigned specialty area.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete rotational assignments in assigned specialty area, gaining knowledge of and exposure to various aspects of the business.

Shift Hours and Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Compensation Details: The expected starting rate of pay for this position is $23.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on experience.
