Job summary

Plano ISD is seeking a Student Information Systems Specialist to provide technical assistance and training on PEIMS reporting and Skyward data maintenance. You will identify and resolve data discrepancies and support district processes to ensure accurate student information across systems.

The role requires strong organization, communication skills and experience with TEA reporting requirements. Responsible for creating training materials and assisting campuses with PEIMS coding and data

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency with PEIMS data and Skyward experience.
• Ability to research and resolve data discrepancies.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Train and support program owners on state procedures and guidelines relating to accurate student data.
• Research and populate PEIMS and UID numbers for all campuses in Skyward.
• Submit weekly enrollment tracking reports to TSDS; resolve PID and dual enrollment discrepancies.
• Perform queries to identify missing/incorrect student information and provide correction lists.
• Assist in processing PEIMS data corrections for all campuses in Skyward and TSDS.
• Develop training materials (click sheets, presentations, manuals, videos) for PEIMS verification.
• Prepare and distribute student data reports on request.
• Prepare and maintain student records for TEA audits.
• Participate in Region Service Center training to stay up to date on PEIMS requirements.
• Submit PEIMS and Core Collections through the Ed-Fi platform.

Primary Purpose

Provides technical assistance, training, and guidance to campus and program owners; identifies and resolves data discrepancies; and supports processes that ensure student information is accurately represented across district systems and meets TEA reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Proficient with typing, word processing, spreadsheets and file maintenance
• Adept at initiating tasks and compartmentalizing and prioritizing duties and responsibilities
• Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

Major Responsibilities and Duties

• Train and support program owners on state procedures and guidelines relating to accurate student data
• Research and populate student Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) numbers and Unique Identification (UID) numbers for all campuses in Skyward Student Information System
• Submit weekly enrollment tracking report to Texas Student Data Systems (TSDS); resolve Person Identification Database (PID) and dual enrollment discrepancies.
• Perform periodic queries to identify missing or incorrect student information to ensure accuracy of student data and provide campuses with list of information to correct
• Assist in processing PEIMS student data corrections for all campuses in Skyward and TSDS
• Train and support campuses on how to run reports to verify PEIMS coding for special programs is populating as expected, including verification from any third party systems
• Develop training material, which includes click sheets, presentations, training manuals, and videos on how to verify various PEIMS reports from TSDS
• Prepare and distribute student data reports upon request and as needed
• Research and disseminate information regarding changes to ADA funding
• Perform enrollment and attendance validations to comply with TEA guidelines
• Develop annual calendar of key events and report due dates for all campuses
• Prepare and maintain student records required for TEA audits.
• Participate in Region Service Center training to stay up to date on the latest PEIMS requirements
• Assist in submitting PEIMS and Core Collections through the Ed-Fi platform
• Be customer service oriented and maintain a professional approach regarding all district matters.
• Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures
• Perform other functions that may be assigned by administration and/or supervisor
• Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor
