Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years’ related experience.
  • Associate's degree or 60 college hours preferred.
  • Experience with automated payroll, HRIS, or ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience in a college or university setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, and deductions from time sheets and records.
  • Prepares input forms, enters data, and computes wages and deductions for payroll records.
  • Reviews wages and corrects errors to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Records changes affecting net wages (exemptions, insurance, loans) in master payroll records.
  • Sets up wage attachments and garnishments per IRS and related agencies.
  • Processes data for new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, and LWOP.
  • Prorates expenses to departments for cost accounting records.
  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Keeps records of leave pay and non-taxable wages.
  • Assists with distribution of W-2 forms and prepares payments.

Compensation Details: Starting Pay - 45,900.00; Commensurate with education and experience

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm

Remote Eligible: This position is not eligible for remote work

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for compiling data to maintain payroll records for Tarrant County College District (TCCD) employees.

Essential Performance Requirements*
  • Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, and deductions to be withheld from time sheets and other records
  • Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files, or computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll record
  • Reviews wages computed and correct errors to ensure the accuracy of payroll
  • Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records
  • Setup wage attachments and garnishments in compliance with the IRS, Child Support Agencies, Student Loan providers, and Bankruptcy Courts
  • Processes data for new hires, promotions, transfers, demotions, terminations, and leaves without pay (LWOP)
  • Prorates expenses to be debited or credited to each department for cost accounting records
  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions
  • Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages
  • Assists with the distribution of W-2 forms
  • Prepares and issues payments
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
  • Works under the supervision of the assigned department leader

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or 60 college hours
  • At least one (1) year's working experience with an automated payroll, HRIS, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
  • At least one (1) year's working experience in a college or university setting related to the Essential Performance Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of payroll practices
  • Skilled in delivering high-quality customer service and building effective interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite and the Microsoft 365 platform
  • Ability to apply resourcefulness when researching information, resolving issues, and identifying effective solutionsAbility to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly ensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in collaborative environments, engaging with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Ability to identify routine issues and elevate non-standard problems using established procedures in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to review basic information and follow policies, procedures, and guidelines when completing assigned tasks
  • Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and tact, ensuring confidentiality and discretion with sensitive and confidential information
