Job summary

Tarrant County College seeks a Coordinator, Employee Relations to support employer relations management, triaging complaints, documenting cases, coordinating background checks, and preparing reports. Working hours are Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm with occasional evenings/weekends as needed. This role is not remote and requires strong communication and confidentiality.

  • Maintains comprehensive documentation of inquiries for tracking and reporting.
  • Supports case management by organizing confidential employee documentation.
  • Coordinates background checks for promotional, transfer, and rehire applicants.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs, and compliance.
  • Provides backup support for Performance Management and Leave Administration.
  • Measures departmental metrics to identify trends and improve leadership reporting.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for supporting the management of employeerelations by triaging complaints, maintaining accuratedocumentation, coordinating background checks, and preparingreports. This role collaborates with departments to ensurecompliance with organizational policies and fosters a positiveworkplace culture through the implementation of employee relationsinitiatives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*

  • Serves as the initial point of contact for employee complaints,concerns, and inquiries, including those received throughdesignated communication channels
  • Provides timely acknowledgments and maintains comprehensivedocumentation of inquiries for tracking and reportingpurposes
  • Prioritizes incoming communications effectively to ensureaccurate categorization and promptly refers to the appropriate teammember for resolution
  • Supports case management processes by organizing and maintainingaccurate and confidential documentation
  • Collaborates with relevant departments to conduct internalbackground checks for promotional, transfer, and rehireapplicants
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs,and compliance matters with accuracy and efficiency
  • Provides backup support for Performance Management and LeaveAdministration functions and assists with key departmentalprocesses, including grievances and appeal hearings
  • Collects, analyzes, and compiles departmental metrics to identifytrends, support data-driven decision-making, and enhance reportingfor leadership
  • Manages work assignments to ensure the accurate and timelycompletion, tracking, and reporting of employee relations issues todepartment leadership and leverages interpersonal skills, criticalthinking, and sound judgment when addressing employee relationsissues with leaders, faculty, and staff

  • Maintains a professional appearance and provides a positive imageand cultivates strong rapport with customers and internal andexternal stakeholders
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually andfollows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of theworksite
  • Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored by Tarrant County College (TCC) as appropriatefor the role
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege
Supervision
  • Works under the general supervision of the Director of EmployeeRelations
Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of working experience inHuman Resources or related field, or equivalent combination ofeducation and related experienced

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Human Resources, management, or related field
  • At least one (1) year's working experience in higher educationrelated to the essential performance requirements
  • At least one (1) year's working experience in Employee Relationsor Human Resources, with knowledge of employee case management, HRpolicies and procedures, and handling confidential employeematters
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of relevant federal and state laws regardingTitle VII, Title IX, employment, and harassment prevention
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonalrelationships, including strong listening, verbal, and writtencommunication to effectively communicate complex issues withmembers of all levels of the organization
  • Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems,including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and tact, ensuringconfidentiality and discretion with sensitive and confidentialinformation
  • Ability to grasp complex concepts and procedures quickly
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicateproblems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work arevaried and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlesslyensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strongattention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple interruptions andmeet deadlines
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-service orientedcollaborative team environment
