Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have two years of prior authorization experience or training.
• Proficient in Internet usage and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee authorization and scheduling of all Special Procedures.
• Coordinate with device representatives, providers, patients, and internal staff.
• Maintain an organized, detailed spreadsheet of patients considered for procedures.
• Inform patients about pre-procedure requirements (medical/psych clearance, etc.).
• Coordinate pre-procedure requirements (psych clearance, pre-op tests, etc.).
• Educate patients, staff, and providers on Special Procedures.
• Understand insurance policies as they relate to procedures.
• Obtain authorizations and schedule related procedures.
• Review patient chart notes for medical necessity and clarity.
• Coordinate procedure scheduling with device representatives from various companies.
• Communicate with providers to clarify medical chart notes.
