Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, seeks an experienced Special Procedure Nurse for its Urgent Care program in Norwood, MA. The role covers pre- and post-procedure care, IV moderate sedation, and intra‑procedural support across GYN, Oral & Maxillofacial, Oncology, and GI procedures.

Requires RN license in MA, BLS, and 3+ years of ambulatory nursing; ACLS may be needed by specialty. Per diem schedule; benefits package available.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in MA (unrestricted)
• Active BLS; ACLS may be required by specialty
• 3+ years of hospital/ambulatory nursing experience
• Ability to participate in IV Moderate Sedation seminars every two years

Responsibilities

• Support the procedural process as part of a collaborative care team
• Organize resources and activities to ensure safe, efficient procedural flow
• Provide pre‑op assessment, IV moderate sedation, intra‑procedural support, and post‑op monitoring
• Perform nursing procedures within scope (IV placement, med administration, injections, wound care, EKGs, glucose tests)
• Deliver patient education and post‑procedure instructions; maintain documentation and confidentiality
• Monitor patient condition and communicate data to care team
• Assist with oncology care coordination and community resources
• Maintain safety, credentialing, and certifications; contribute to staff education and quality initiatives
• Foster collaboration and effective patient flow management
