Job summary

Atrius Health, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Special Procedure Nurse to join our procedural unit in Norwood, MA. Under the direction of the department chief, you will provide pre- and post-procedure care across GYN Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial, Oncology, and GI procedures.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, assisting with IV moderate sedation, intra‑procedural support, post‑op monitoring, education, and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completed an accredited Registered Nurse education program.
• Active and unrestricted RN licensure in MA.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
• ACLS may be required based on specialty.
• 3+ years of relevant nursing experience in medical/surgical or ambulatory settings.

Responsibilities

• Support the procedural process as part of a collaborative care team.
• Organize resources and activities to ensure safe, efficient procedural flow.
• Provide specialty-specific care including pre-op assessment, IV sedation, intra-procedural support, and post-op monitoring.
• Perform nursing procedures within scope of practice (IV placement, meds, injections, wound care, EKGs, glucose testing).
• Deliver patient education and instructions for pre/post-procedure care; maintain documentation and confidentiality.
• Monitor patient condition throughout the procedure and communicate data to the care team.
• Administer medications per physician orders and assist with oncology care coordination.
• Maintain safety standards, credentialing, and certifications (BCLS, ACLS, specialty certs).
• Contribute to staff education, department meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a resource for patient flow management and program planning.
