Qualifications

• Documentation of at least three years of post-secondary education or a combination equivalent to 90 hours of approved study in an educationally related field.
• Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of the instructional process and the needs of students, including students with special needs.
• Knowledge of emergency, health, and safety procedures preferred.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing in-service training as requested by the Administrator and/or Director.
• Must hold or be eligible for Maine Educational Technician III Authorization for the State of Maine and CHRC Approval Certificate.
• Must maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information as required by law.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities.
• Prior experience in an educational setting is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning under direct supervision.
• Assist teachers in developing strategies to reinforce materials based on students' needs.
• Guide independent study, enrichment activities, and remedial work assigned by the teacher or content specialist.
• Administer, score, and record achievement or diagnostic tests as directed by the teacher.
• Provide input to the IEP process and parent conference days when requested.
• Provide primary support for computer lab technology, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Prepare instructional materials including copying, typing, and bulletin board preparation.
• Assist with classroom and library duties such as checking materials in and out and shelving.
