Job summary

RSU 57 Massabesic School District in Waterboro, ME seeks an Educational Technician III to support classroom instruction at Waterboro Elementary School. The role partners with the special education team to assist teachers and adapt learning activities for students with diverse needs.

The position requires meeting Maine certification requirements and a commitment to in-service training. Salary is set by the RSU 57 School Board with full-time status at on-site location.

Qualifications

• Must have 90 credit hours in an educationally related field.
• Must hold or be eligible for State of Maine Educational Technician III Certification and CHRC Approval Certificate.
• Must possess strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, an understanding of the instructional process, and an understanding of students' needs to include understanding of the student with special needs.
• Knowledge of emergency, health, and safety issues preferred.
• Must participate in ongoing in-service training as requested by Administrator/Director.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing learning activities.
• Help develop strategies tailored to individual student needs.
• Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work.
• Coach students with functional needs and collect data for student plans.
• Supervise small groups in community-based programs.
• Administer, score and record tests as recommended by the teacher.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and equipment.
• Support with playground, bus, study hall, detention and lunch duties.
• Participate in ongoing in-service training in the specialty area.
