Job summary

RSU 57 in Waterboro, ME seeks an Educational Technician III to support students with special needs and collaborate with instructional staff. You will help manage instructional materials, supervise activities, and participate in computer lab tasks and library/media duties.

The position emphasizes implementing instructional plans, assisting with IEP-related activities, and promoting a safe, organized learning environment within the school.

Qualifications

• Documentation of at least three years of post-secondary education or equivalent to 90 hours in educationally related field.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of instructional process and needs of students including those with special needs.
• Knowledge of emergency, health, and safety procedures preferred.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing in-service training as requested by Administrator/Director.
• Must hold or be eligible for Maine Educational Technician III Authorization and CHRC approval.
• Maintain high ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information by law.
• Demonstrated aptitude for assigned responsibilities; prior educational experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to individuals or small groups under supervision.
• Assist with reinforcing materials and skills, adapting to student needs.
• Guide independent study and enrichment activities as directed.
• Administer, score, and record tests as directed by teachers.
• Assist with instructional materials, equipment, and library/media tasks.
• Support IEP preparation and parent conference days when requested.
• Provide primary computer lab support, troubleshooting, and software updates.
• Assist with inventory, budgeting for the computer lab, and mobile lab tech usage.
• Prepare instructional materials including copying, typing, and bulletin board prep.
• Support classroom and student supervision during various duties and drills.
• Assist with substitute teacher information and instruction pre-planned activities.
