Qualifications

• Documentation of at least three years of post-secondary education or 90 hours of approved study in an educationally related field.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Understanding of the instructional process and the needs of students, including those with special needs.
• Knowledge of emergency, health, and safety procedures preferred.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing in-service training as requested by Administrator/Director.
• Must hold or be eligible for Maine Educational Technician III Authorization and CHRC Approval Certificate.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information.
• Prior experience in an educational setting is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning under supervision.
• Assist teachers in developing strategies to support materials and skills.
• Guide independent study, enrichment, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
• Provide lab and materials support and assist with IEP processes when requested.
• Support classroom and school activities, including supervision and coverage as needed.
