Job summary

YES Prep in Houston, TX seeks a Special Education Teaching Assistant to support Special Education and General Education teachers across instructional settings. The role includes behavior management, data maintenance, and one-to-one student support for individuals with significant needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 30 semester hours of college or post-secondary education credit.
• Current Educational Aide certification or willingness to obtain TEA certification.
• Interest in one-on-one support for students with significant needs (medical needs included).
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic and behavioral skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Assist with behavior management techniques by modeling and reinforcing desired behaviors.
• Maintain data per teacher IE P goals and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support with lesson plans and reinforcing learning concepts.
• Assist students in self-help and academic skills.
• Provide one-to-one full-time support for students with significant needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and work assignments.
• Implement accommodations/modifications as directed by teachers.
• Adapt activities, assignments, and materials to support objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions and throughout the day.
• Provide personal care services as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
