Job summary

YES Prep in Houston, TX seeks a Special Education Teaching Assistant for a 10-month position. The role supports Special Education and General Education teachers, assists with behavior management, and helps tailor lessons to individual student needs.

You will maintain data on IEP goals, provide one-to-one support for students with significant needs, and assist with tests and accommodations while contributing to a team‑oriented school culture that values growth and impact.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Require at least 30 semester hours of college credit.
• Current Educational Aide certification or willingness to obtain TEA certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision in all instructional settings.
• Model and reinforce positive behaviors to support behavior management.
• Maintain data related to student IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support lesson planning and reinforce learning concepts.
• Assist students in developing self-help and academic skills.
• Provide one-to-one full-time support for a student with significant needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and assignments.
• Implement accommodations and modifications as directed.
• Adapt activities and materials to meet classroom objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions and supervise actions inside and outside the classroom.
• Provide personal care services when needed.
