Job summary

Norwalk Board of Education seeks a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at Concord Magnet K-8 School. The role provides IEP mandated instruction in a structured classroom, with data collection guiding instruction and ongoing collaboration with families and staff.

The teacher will develop and implement individualized plans, monitor progress, and coordinate IEPs with general education staff, aligning with NFT contract expectations. This position is based in Connecticut.

Qualifications

• CT teaching certificate in Special Education (165) required.
• IEP data collection knowledge and use of IEP Direct.
• Experience coordinating IEP implementation with general education staff.
• Elementary school special education experience preferred.
• PMT or CPI training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow the approved scope and sequence of the instructional program.
• Manage the classroom and student behavior to support learning.
• Prepare lesson plans aligned to objectives and learners’ needs.
• Maintain accurate records and conduct parent/teacher conferences.
• Coordinate IEP implementation with general education staff.
• Monitor student progress and communicate with families about performance.
• Design instruction for individual and small group settings.
