Job summary

The position requires a CT teaching certificate (165), IEP knowledge, CPI/PMT training, and strong collaboration with staff and parents. Salary follows NFT contract and is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Current special education (165) Connecticut teaching certificate required.
• IEP data collection knowledge.
• Working knowledge of IEP Direct.
• Special education experience preferred.
• Current PMT or CPI training.
• Fluency in Spanish is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Follows the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined by the Norwalk Board of Education.
• Manages the classroom and student behavior to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Prepares lesson plans with clear objectives and appropriate techniques.
• Maintains accurate records and conducts parent/teacher conferences.
• Assesses student progress and identifies areas for intervention.
• Communicates student progress to parents via interim reports or conferences.
• Designs instruction for individual and small group settings to meet diverse needs.
• Coordinates IEP implementation with general education staff and monitors progress.
