Job summary

ChanceLight is seeking a Special Education Teacher to lead instructional processes for elementary students with IEPs in a learning center or classroom. You will design personalized lessons, integrate educational software, and align with state standards while building an inclusive, supportive environment.

The role emphasizes PBIS, collaboration with parents and staff, and ongoing professional growth, with a starting salary of $60,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education or related field.
• IL professional educator credential (PEL) in process or current.
• IL SSE or LBS1 credential in process or current.
• Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
• Experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction.
• Experience with special education services and compliance for students with disabilities.
• Experience with IEPs and at‑risk students.
• Strong communication, organization, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
• Ability to think quickly in emergencies and make independent decisions.
• Knowledge of technology including Microsoft Office, databases, and educational software.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive, collaborative environment involving students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
• Establish PBIS-based classroom climate with mutual respect and clear expectations.
• Implement and reinforce PBIS strategies, reward systems, and consequences.
• Track and document student progress and generate reports detailing achievements.
• Deliver differentiated instruction in co‑teaching to meet IEP goals.
• Adapt curricular content to diverse learning needs and guide staff on differentiation.
• Utilize varied instructional methods and educational software to support learners.
• Manage student caseload, develop and implement IEPs, goals and interventions.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans and organized instructional materials.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming classroom environment and manage supplies.
• Stay informed on current research-based instructional practices.
• Respond to feedback and pursue ongoing professional growth.
• Support the school community with additional duties as assigned.
