Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to lead instructional processes for elementary students with IEPs, delivering differentiated instruction and personalized plans within learning centers or classrooms. You will design engaging curricula, integrate educational software, and align activities with state standards to support diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or related field.
• IL PEL credential in process or active.
• IL SSE or LBS1 credential in process or active.
• Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
• Experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in alternative/special education settings.
• Experience with IEPs and serving students with diverse needs.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive, collaborative learning environment involving students, parents, colleagues and administrators.
• Establish a respectful classroom climate with PBIS and positive behavior supports.
• Implement school-wide and classroom PBIS strategies and reward systems.
• Track student progress, maintain records and generate achievement reports.
• Deliver differentiated instruction for IEP goals, in single‑ or co‑teaching settings.
• Adapt curricula to diverse learning needs and provide guidance on differentiation.
• Utilize varied instructional methods and educational software to support diverse learners.
• Manage caseloads and develop/update IEPs, goals and interventions.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans aligned to standards and objectives.
• Maintain a safe, organized classroom and manage resources effectively.
