Job summary

ChanceLight is seeking a Special Education Teacher to lead instructional services for elementary students with IEPs in learning centers or classrooms. You will design personalized lessons, integrate educational software, and create detailed plans aligned with standards to meet diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or a closely related field.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educator (PEL) credential.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL state special education (SSE) or learning behavior specialist (LBS1) credential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.
• Prior experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
• Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with learning disabilities, emotional disturbance and/or challenging behaviors.
• Prior experience and highly knowledgeable in working with students with individualized education plans (IEP's).
• Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals.
• Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.

Responsibilities

• Creating an inclusive, collaborative environment with students, parents, colleagues, and admins.
• Establishing a classroom climate with PBIS and positive interactions.
• Implementing school-wide and classroom PBIS strategies and consequences.
• Tracking and documenting student progress and generating comprehensive reports.
• Delivering differentiated instruction individually or in co-teaching to meet IEP goals.
• Adapting curricula to diverse learning styles and guiding differentiation methods.
• Using varied instructional methods and educational software to support diverse needs.
• Managing student caseloads and developing/updating IEPs and interventions.
• Preparing detailed daily lesson plans aligned to standards and objectives.
• Maintaining an organized, safe classroom and managing supplies.
• Staying informed on current instructional practices in special education.
• Responding to feedback from evaluations and pursuing professional growth.
• Supporting the school community with additional duties as assigned.
