Job summary

Ombudsman Educational Services is seeking a Special Education Teacher in Illinois to lead instructional planning for elementary students with IEPs in a learning center or classroom. You'll design personalized lessons, use educational software, and collaborate with staff to meet state standards.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's or higher in education, IL PEL or SSE/LBS1 credential, and experience with PBIS and crisis training. The role offers meaningful impact and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or a closely related field.
• IL professional educator license (PEL) or in process.
• IL state SSE/LBS1 credential or in process.
• Crisis management training certification in progress or obtained.
• Experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in alt ed or behavioral health settings.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive classroom environment involving students, parents, colleagues and administrators.
• Establish a respectful classroom climate with PBIS strategies and clear expectations.
• Implement PBIS across school and classroom levels with rewards and consequences.
• Track and report student progress and maintain accurate files.
• Deliver differentiated instruction in a co‑teaching environment to meet IEP goals.
• Modify curricula to accommodate diverse learning needs and coach staff on differentiation.
• Utilize instructional technology and software to engage diverse learners.
• Manage student caseloads, develop and monitor IEP goals and interventions.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans aligned to standards and objectives.
• Maintain a safe, organized classroom with efficient use of materials.
