Job summary

Ombudsman Educational Services seeks a Special Education Teacher for its Alternative Education program in Illinois. The role focuses on leading instruction for elementary students with IEPs, developing personalized lessons, and collaborating to support diverse learners in a dynamic setting.

Responsibilities include delivering differentiated instruction, utilizing tech resources, and maintaining documentation to ensure progress toward IEP goals within school standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or a closely related field.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educator (PEL) credential.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL state special education (SSE) or learning behavior specialist (LBS1) credential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.
• Prior experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
• Prior experience and knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with learning disabilities, emotional disturbance and/or challenging behaviors.
• Prior experience and highly knowledgeable in working with students with individualized education plans (IEP's).
• Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans for at-risk students with diverse needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional process for Elementary School students with IEPs.
• Design personalized learning experiences aligned with standards.
• Deliver targeted instruction and use educational software.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans and materials.
• Collaborate in co-teaching environments to meet IEP goals.
• Monitor student progress and maintain files and reports.
• Adapt curricula to diverse learning styles and needs.
