Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking a Special Education Teacher for an Elementary School learning center in West Chicago, IL. You will lead instructional planning for students with IEPs, delivering differentiated instruction and using adaptive curricula to meet diverse needs.

You will collaborate with staff, implement PBIS, and design engaging lessons aligned with state standards while maintaining detailed records and progress reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education or related field.
• IL PEL credential in progress.
• IL SSE/LBS1 credential in progress.
• Ability to obtain crisis management certification.
• Experience with curriculum development, differentiation, and instruction.
• Experience with special education services and compliance.
• Experience with IEPs and related services.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive, collaborative classroom environment with students, families, and staff.
• Model PBIS to support social development and positive behavior.
• Implement school-wide and classroom PBIS rules and rewards.
• Track student progress and document achievements and activities.
• Deliver differentiated instruction in individual or co‑teaching settings for IEP goals.
• Modify curricula and teaching methods for diverse learners.
• Use varied instructional tools and educational software to engage students.
• Manage caseloads and update IEPs, goals, and interventions.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans aligned to standards and objectives.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Stay current with best practices in special education and PBIS.
• Respond to feedback and pursue ongoing professional growth.
• Take on additional duties to support the school program.
