Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education in Illinois seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to lead instructional planning for elementary students with IEPs, delivering personalized, standards-aligned lessons in a learning center or classroom.

You will implement differentiated instruction, collaborate with staff, and maintain detailed progress documentation while fostering a supportive learning environment that emphasizes PBIS and student growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education or closely related field.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educator credential.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL state SSE or LBS1 credential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain crisis management training certification.
• Experience with curriculum development and differentiation; preferably in alternative or behavioral health settings.
• Experience with IEPs and special education services for diverse needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional process for elementary students with IEPs.
• Deliver differentiated instruction and co‑teaching when needed.
• Develop detailed lesson plans aligned to standards.
• Track progress and maintain student files, generate reports.
• Adapt content for diverse learning styles and needs.
• Maintain a safe, organized classroom and leverage PBIS.
