Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education in Belvidere, IL is seeking a Special Education Teacher to lead instructional processes for elementary students with IEPs, delivering personalized lessons, integrating technology, and planning schedules aligned with state standards.

You will collaborate in a learning center or classroom, develop IEP goals, and apply differentiated instruction while building PBIS-based classroom culture and ensuring student progress and family communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
• Currently licensed or in the process of obtaining IL professional educator (PEL) credential.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining IL state SSE or LBS1 credential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive, collaborative environment involving students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
• Establish a classroom climate built on PBIS with mutual respect and clear expectations.
• Implement PBIS strategies, reward systems and appropriate consequences.
• Track and document student progress and generate comprehensive reports.
• Deliver differentiated instruction individually or in co‑teaching to meet IEP goals.
• Adapt curricular content for diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Utilize varied instructional methods and educational software.
• Manage student caseloads and implement IEPs and interventions.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans aligned to standards and objectives.
• Maintain an organized, safe classroom environment and manage resources.
