YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant to support students with significant needs in both Special Education and General Education settings. This 10-month, hourly role reports to the Special Education Manager and offers compensation between $15.63 and $19.43 per hour.

You will assist teachers with supervising students, managing behaviors, and tailoring lessons to individual needs while maintaining data on goals and plans.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 30 semester hours of college or post-secondary credit.
• Current Educational Aide certification, or willingness to obtain TEA certification.
• Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs (medical needs included).
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic and behavioral skills.
• Commitment to YES Prep Public Schools mission and core values.
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated teamwork and willingness to learn and grow as a professional.

Responsabilidades

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all settings.
• Model and reinforce positive behaviors to support behavior management.
• Maintain data aligned with IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support teachers with lesson plans and reinforce concepts.
• Assist students with self-help and academic skills.
• Provide one-to-one full-time support for students with significant needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and assignments.
• Implement accommodations and/or modifications as directed.
• Adapt activities or materials to support objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions and manage routines.
• Provide personal care services as needed; perform additional duties as assigned.
