Job summary

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support instructors in an emotional disturbance/self-contained environment and assist with IEP planning and small‑group instruction.

The role focuses on materials prep, student care, and coordination of classroom activities. Eligible candidates meet paraprofessional requirements and may hold an associate degree or two years of college, with Para Pro assessment completion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, AND
• Two years of college (at least 48-semester hour credits);
• Associate's (or higher) degree;
• Pass the Para Pro Assessment and the Paraprofessional Standards Checklist.

Responsibilities

• Enter IEP data into the computer system and print data files per procedures.
• Prepare and return classroom materials; locate supplies and organize the classroom.
• Provide attendant care for students; assist with feeding, dressing and toileting as needed.
• Assist with grading, attendance, and distribution of materials; support screening and testing procedures.
