Job summary

Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support teachers in a preschool/elementary setting.

Under supervision, the aide assists with IEP implementation, student care, and classroom tasks, including materials prep, attendance, and monitoring safety during activities. Requires a high school diploma or GED and may require two years of college; Alaska driver’s license preferred; starting wage $19.19/hour; schedule 8:45-4:15pm, 202 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; No Child Left Behind paraprofessional requirements apply.
• Two years of college credits or an associate's degree preferred.
• Para Pro Assessment and Paraprofessional Standards Checklist may be required.

Responsibilities

• Enter IEP data into computer system and print required files.
• Prepare and return classroom materials and organize supplies.
• Provide attendant care for moderately/severely handicapped students.
• Assist with grading, attendance, and testing procedures.
• Assist in planning/implementing IEPs for individuals or small groups.
• Schedule parent conferences and IEP meetings as needed.
• Provide additional administrative assistance as required.
• Make programmatic communications with teachers and parents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
