Job summary

Northwest Arctic Borough School District is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to support students with IEPs in both SPED and general education classrooms, under the supervision of the SPED teacher.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, reinforcing material in small groups, accompanying students on trips, and helping prepare classroom materials. Training in signing and Braille is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with children preferred
• AA degree or higher, 48 college credits, or ParaPro test required
• Minimum qualifications align with federal No Child Left Behind Act requirements

Responsibilities

• Assists students in physical tasks as needed and records data daily
• Works with students in the instructional program
• Teaches in small groups under SPED teacher supervision to reinforce material
• Accompanies students on trips to offices or other places outside school
• Establishes supportive relationships with students
• Serves as a resource on the collaboration team to carry out IEP goals
• Assists teacher in preparing classroom materials
• Learns and practices signing with hearing-impaired students or Braille with visually-impaired students
• Responsible for feeding, toileting and movement for intensive care students
• Other duties as assigned by the SPED teacher
