Job summary

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District seeks a Special Education Assistant (0.875 FTE) to support students in an emotionally disturbed/self-contained environment. You will assist instructors with IEP implementation, provide teaching support to individuals and small groups, and help ensure student safety and learning.

Duties include data entry for IEPs, preparing materials, aiding with class activities, supervising during transitions, and coordinating with staff and families as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with two years of college or an associate's degree as required by state rules.
• Must meet paraprofessional requirements per NCLB and state guidelines.
• Completion of required assessments and standards.

Responsibilities

• Enter and manage IEP data and print student information per procedures.
• Prepare and organize classroom materials, supplies, and bulletin boards.
• Provide attendant care for students and monitor safety during class, recess, and field trips.
• Assist instructors with grading, attendance, and screening/testing procedures.
• Assist with planning/implementing IEPs for individuals or small groups.
• Schedule parent conferences and coordinate with school staff.
• May perform other administrative or transport-related tasks as needed.
• Communicate programmatic information flows between teachers and parents.
