Job summary

School District 27J is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to provide direct academic and behavioral support for students with disabilities in both special and general education settings. The role includes modifying materials, data collection, and collaboration with teachers and related service providers to implement IEPs.

The position requires assisting with life skills, supervising activities, and adhering to behavior intervention plans while ensuring student safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as IEPs and behavior plans.
• Collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Apply basic math concepts in daily tasks.
• Must meet physical requirements including lifting up to 100 pounds.
• CPR/First Aid preferred or obtainable within 2 months of hire.
• Pass post-offer physical and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional and supervisory support for students in special and general education settings.
• Modify materials and classroom environment under direction of Special Education staff.
• Support peer relationships and natural supports; assess accordingly.
• Follow behavior intervention plans and ensure safety in school and activities.
• Maintain forms and records as requested by teachers and therapists.
• Assist with minor clerical duties and attend required trainings.
• Attend staffings and collaborate with paraprofessionals and the team.
• Follow daily routines, including toileting and feeding, for individual students.
