Job summary

School District 27J (Inc) in Colorado seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide direct academic and behavioral support for students with severe disabilities at Riverdale Ridge High School. You will assist with modifications, life skills, and personal care as delegated by the School Nurse, collect data, and maintain student records, ensuring safety and positive classroom routines.

Position is 9 months with a 12-month pay schedule, eligible for benefits and a competitive wage starting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred but not required.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or can obtain within 2 months of hire.
• Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and/or academic support for students with disabilities in special education and general education settings.
• Modify instructional materials and classroom environment under supervision.
• Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
• Monitor safety and behavior throughout school and during activities per plans.
• Maintain required forms and records and communicate progress to teachers.
• De-escalate students using approved CPI measures and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Assist teachers with clerical duties and participate in trainings and staffings.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and follow guidance from the special education team.
• Follow daily routines for individual students, including toileting and feeding.
