Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret Behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, and staff/student handbooks.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Ability to apply basic math concepts, including algebra and geometry.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or obtainable within 2 months of hire.
• Must pass post-offer, pre-employment physical and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and supervision for students with disabilities in accordance with IEPs in both special and general education settings.
• Modify academic materials and classroom environment under direction from teachers.
• Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow through with behavior intervention plans and monitor safety in school areas.
• Maintain required forms and records as requested by teachers and therapists.
• De-escalate students using CPI measures and follow Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Communicate observations and progress with teachers and therapists.
• Assist with minor clerical duties as needed.
• Attend trainings and student staffings as required.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals and follow direct instruction from the team.
• Follow daily routines and schedules for consistency.
• Other duties may be assigned.
