Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support supervision, care, and instruction of students with special needs in both regular and self-contained classrooms. You will assist in implementing IEP objectives and monitor behavior during daily activities, reporting progress to teachers and families.

Your role requires adaptability, teamwork, and effective communication with school staff and families.

Qualifications

• Qualifying score on the Education Testing Service paraeducator assessment or equivalent PESB credential.
• Associate degree or higher OR seventy-two quarter credits OR forty-eight semester credits at the 100-level or higher; apprenticeship considered.
• Ability to perform basic math and read/write at a beginner level; follow prescribed formats and multi-step instructions.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials under teacher direction to involve all special education students.
• Administer tests, homework, and grade-related tasks to assist teacher in monitoring progress.
• Provide first aid and basic medical assistance as needed to care for injured students.
