Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a dedicated Special Education Assistant to support students with special needs in both regular and self-contained classrooms. You will assist in implementing IEPs, monitor behavior and safety, and work closely with teachers and families.

The role involves assisting with personal and medical needs, accompanying students to activities, and helping with classroom adaptations to ensure participation and progress for each student.

Qualifications

• Must meet Washington paraeducator requirements (certification or higher education).
• Ability to adapt activities and materials under teacher direction.
• Experience with safety, first aid or CPR is preferred.
• Knowledge of IEP goals and collaboration with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervising and supporting special needs students.
• accompany student to and from school using district transportation.
• Assist in general education classrooms and self-contained settings.
• Implement behavioral plans and support instructions and remediation as directed by teachers.
• Monitor student safety and well-being during school activities.
• Maintain records and communicate student progress to teachers and parents.
