Job summary

Seattle Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs in classrooms and self-contained settings. You will assist in implementing instructional plans, monitor behavior, and attend IEP meetings to support student progress.

The role includes assisting with personal care needs and diapering when required, adapting activities under teacher guidance, and collaborating with families and staff to ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and an option to fulfill via ETS paraeducator assessment or equivalent college credits or an associate degree or higher.
• Having completed a paraeducator apprenticeship registered with the WA State Apprenticeship Council.
• Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities under teacher direction to help all special education students participate.
• Administer materials and assignments to assist in evaluating student progress and organizing individual needs.
• Administer first aid and medical assistance as required for student care.
• Assist students with personal care needs to support daily functioning in school.
• Attend meetings and in-service trainings to stay informed on job functions and requirements.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to implement IEP objectives.
