Job summary

IDEA Public Schools seeks a Special Education RISE Co-Teacher to support students with cognitive and developmental disabilities in L6-12 settings. You will work with a low student-teacher ratio to implement practical and instructional goals within a functional curriculum.

You’ll assist in daily living skill development, participate in multidisciplinary collaboration, and help students access general education environments. A 48 college-hour requirement applies, with bachelor’s degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with cognitive or developmental disabilities preferred.
• Willingness to pursue Special Education teaching certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required or preferred for eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under direction.
• Support implementation of Individual Education Plans and monitor progress.
• Provide in-class and one-on-one support to enable student participation.
• Collaborate with professionals such as speech therapists and occupational/physical therapists.
• Assist in maintaining student records and progress reports.
• Support students with behavioral or emotional needs and model appropriate social skills.
