IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Special Education RISE Co-Teacher to support students with cognitive and developmental disabilities in a K-12 setting. The role focuses on functional academics, daily living and vocational skills within a supportive general education environment.

Co-Teachers work in low student-teacher ratios (often 1 to 3) to assist with IEPs, progress monitoring, and collaboration with therapists and teachers.

Competenze

• Education: at least 48 college hours required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience: working with children with cognitive and/or pervasive developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
• Licenses or Certifications: willingness to pursue Special Education teaching certification preferred.

Mansioni

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.
• Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside of the classroom to enable participation in activities.
• Work with professionals such as speech therapist, social worker, and therapists.
• Maintain student records with classroom teachers.
