Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Co-Teacher to support students with significant cognitive and developmental disabilities in K-12 settings. You will work in low student-teacher ratios (1 to 3) to implement functional curricula and support daily living and vocational skills for adulthood.

The role requires at least 48 college hours, with a bachelor's degree preferred, and a willingness to pursue Special Education certification.

Qualifications

• At least 48 college hours required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
• Willingness to pursue Special Education teaching certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under supervision.
• Support implementation of Individual Education Plans and monitor progress.
• Provide support for individual students to participate in activities inside/outside classroom.
• Collaborate with speech therapists, social workers, and other therapists.
• Maintain student records and assist with behavior management.
• Assist with daily living tasks as needed in Life Skills units.
• Occasionally accompany students on bus routes before/after school.
