IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Co-Teacher to support students with significant cognitive and developmental disabilities. This role works in K-12 settings with low student-teacher ratios to implement functional curricula and daily living skills, in a general education environment when appropriate.

The position emphasizes collaboration with speech and other therapists, with opportunities to advance education and pursue certification through IDEA’s program.

Qualificações

• Education: at least 48 college hours required; bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience: experience working with children with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities strongly preferred
• Licenses/Certifications: willingness to pursue Special Education certification (ISECP) available

Responsabilidades

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under guidance
• Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans and monitor progress
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside classroom
• Work with other professionals (speech therapist, social worker, OT/PT)
• Assist with maintaining student records
• Support students with emotional or behavior concerns; assist in social skills development
• Assistance with daily living may include feeding, lifting and toileting in Life Skills Unit
• Possible school bus assistance before/after school
