Job summary

New Story Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team supporting students ages 5-21 with autism and developmental challenges. You will work closely with teachers to help students achieve academic, behavioral, and daily living goals through direct support and positive guidance.

You will implement behavior strategies and assist with transitions, self-care, and classroom routines, while collecting progress data and keeping a safe, structured learning environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• At least three months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities.
• Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals.
• Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance.
• Assist students with transitions, activities, and personal care as needed.
• Collect and record behavioral and progress data.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
